"We Have Arrived - 1st December"

We arrived in St Lucia yesterday afternoon and guess what? We had no sooner tied up and were getting ourselves organised when the heavens opened! Not just a light summer shower but a tropical downpour.  We arrived at the harbour office dripping wet and completely bedraggled.  After filling in the necessary forms we then moved on to the Immigration Office, followed by Customs leaving a trail of water behind us.  The very austere Immigration Officer studied our form and questioned our port of departure, which we confirmed was La Gomera.  "You have been a long time" he commented, much to our amusement.  We explained that we were only a small ship.

Once all the formalities were complete, as we were soaked from our preliminary showers in the warm tropical downpour, we decided that a Rum Punch was most definitely needed next to celebrate our achievement.  Two jugs later, it was time for more orthodox showers.  Never before has a shower felt quite so good, I was more than relieved to get rid of my birds nest hair. A snooze, followed by dinner ashore and then a very good nights sleep ended our very long journey.

Today, is a work day completing many small repair jobs.  The sun is shining, Whisper's canopy is up and the wind chute is over the forepaw hatch creating a lovely cool breeze.  So far not a rain cloud in sight!  Life is good!
