"18th June Day 5 Azores - Falmouth

So far so good, we are still on course for Falmouth.  We are cruising up the east side of the Azores High with 15kts of wind, making steady progress at 5-6kns.

Yesterday afternoon was delightfully sunny and warm, spoilt only by the occasional goffer which would appear from nowhere.  Sitting mid-ships in the companion way was the safest spot but if a resounding bang was heard it was prudent to duck quickly.

I am working on the store of tins, yesterday we had "Pilchards In" (naval slang for Pilchards in Tomato Sauce).  They are not something that I can eat a lot of and what I didn't know until yesterday, is that Noel doesn't like them!!  I might conjure up a Pilchard Pasta for the next tin and disguise them for both of us.  I am hoping that there is only one more tin and that I didn't buy three!  Our Fray Bentos Pie, which I thought was Chicken and Mushroom, turned out to be Steak & Kidney and as we both had a piece of kidney, Noel joked that it must have been made pre-war!

We remain on our own out here, in the vast greyness of the Atlantic. All is well and in 96 miles, if we can maintain this course, we will be half way!
