27 August

1200hrs Alex and I had quick coffee, croissant and then he dropped the hire car off before we left Marina Di Salivoli to head to Isola Di Giglio.

1522hrs Currently in light winds, close reach, averaging about 6kns in about 7kns to 9kns true. Relaxing sail.

1830hrs Anchored at Cala Delle Cannelle, Isola Giglio. Alex and I took the dinghy to the port and toasted Mark and Chloe on their engagement. Probably had one too many Jefferson’s Reserve Very Old Kentucky Bourbon on our return to the boat.

0945hrs Depart Cala Delle Cannelle for Civitavecchia

1530hrs Berthed at Marina Riva Di Traiano, Civitavecchia. Motored all the way today as virtually no wind. We did a few chores around the boat, went to the chandlery and that evening Al and I took the Bromptons into Civitavecchia for dinner at a steakhouse.

We continued with various chores on the boat this morning. Al got a haircut at the hairdressers at the marina before catching a taxi at 1230pm to the airport for his flight back to Perth. It was good to spend a few days with him, he is a good hand on the boat and hopefully will follow up with some sailing courses in Perth to improve his competency.

I met an Aussie couple from Sydney, Robert and Denise Drew, at the marina. Their boat was parked close to Westralla.  A retired Anglo mining engineer, so how is that for a coincidence? We exchanged emails and he gave some good advice about marinas in Sicily, so handy for next year.
