0926hrs We departed Calvi, Corsica, for an 80nm leg to Porto Ferrario, Elba. This would take us to the northern tip of Corsica and then ESE to Elba.

1345hrs Strong following winds had us poling out the jib and genoa for a goosewing run bearing 42mag, covering the first 44nm leg to the northern point of Corsica in 4hrs 19mins, an average speed over ground of 10.19knts. Winds average 18 to 25knts. No doubt the fastest leg in Westralia to date. Now on a bearing of 108mag on a 37nm reach to a point off Portoferraio, Elba. Double reefed genoa and mainsail have Westralia averaging +8.5knots in 17knts apparent. The Reckmann jib furler has packed in so will have to get that repaired when trip is finished.

1930hrs  Berthed at Portoferraio. Overall we covered the 84nm in 10 hours, so averaged 8.4 knots under sail virtually all the way other than the final slow approach to Portoferraio. A great day's sailing.
