We departed the mooring at Cala Reale at 1030hrs and made our way initially under motor but, after being stopped by the national park wardens, we were advised that we must make our way under sail in the protected marine zone. We set sails and continued at a very leisurely pace in very light winds, heading around the northern point of Asinara instead of through the Fornelli passage. So effectively Westralia completed a circumnavigation of Asinara.

We made our way south reaching under very light winds, finally laying anchor at Cala San Nicolo, near Argentiera. A relatively off the beaten track Cala, very much exposed to westerly winds. The winds were very light and from the east overnight. Interesting location in that it was the port for a base metals silver mine, closed in the 1960s. I swam ashore to do a recon of the bar and restaurant facilities (there was just one!) and on my return, after a couple of G&Ts, we made our way in the dinghy to the beach. We had a good meal with the locals, mainly fisherman we think. The bar and restaurant were located close to the old process plant.

On our return the dinghy had taken water due to small shore breaks coming over the stern so, at midnight, we set to and bailed her out with half a water bottle before making our way back to Westralia.
