More surgery to Waterwinky Unfortunately the previous surgery to Waterwinky hadn't worked well and we continued to have a slow puncture in the airdeck. This meant putting more air into it every time we wanted to use it......not a major problem, more of a nuisance. However, not to be beaten, Captain Marky had another go at it following the instructions religiously but this time on the side of the adhesive tube as opposed to the instructions in the repair kit......Hmmmm, should they be different - Oh well, they are....
Captain Marky with a new rubber patch and adhesive in hand - one last go at surgery on Waterwinky...
As we weren't moving this day there was no need for Waterwinky so we were able to apply the new patch in the morning and leave it to cure for the whole day. This time there was a change in strategy - 2 thin layers of adhesive as opposed to one thicker layer......we made good the damaged area, rubbed the area and the patch with some abrasive paper and applied the adhesive. The one problem here is that the adhesive goes off very quickly in these temperatures, too quick to ensure that there is a good even coverage. However this time it felt good and when the patch was applied it seem to adhere very quickly with no bubbles or too much excessive adhesive. Once applied it seemed this time to stick immediately and not move - just as well I was careful to place it in the right place first time round.
So - Fingers crossed.
8 hrs later we put the airdeck back into the tender and re-inflated but only to a light pressure to start. This time, no hissing, the patch didn't inflate, bubble or lift - the airdeck remained inflated throughout the night. RESULT!!!!!!! So that's probably the best we will get until back in the UK where we can return the floor to the manufacturer - Avon, for a permanent vulcanised repair.
Who wouldn't want to be in this water..... The water in this Cala was ideal. Warm, blue and saying very sexily "Come on in guys????" So, Cathy and Marky spent the rest of the day in and out of the water playing various games with Charlie......
Marky and Charlie jumping off the back of Watermark - I know.......AGAIN!!!! Unfortunately Cathy is behind the camera again....
Charlie climbing out of the water after a late night swim.......Yes, he's still in the water and a wonder that he hasn't shrivelled up yet.!!!
The fishing rod also came out with bread as bait. As usual it wasn't long before Charlie had caught something and as usual once caught Charlie refused to touch it - strange behaviour for one who loves to fish so much!!!! Captain Marky came to the rescue and removed the hook out of the fishes mouth and returned it to the water..... As for the picture, absolutely no way, the fish was a tiddler and not worthy of a blog spot!! Sunset and Moonrise As the day went on the sun set and the rising moon was a full moon lighting up the bay.......on board the cards came out and the newly acquired "Scrabble" for the iPad which seems to be a favourite with Charlie and Cathy on board. As for the skipper who struggles to speak english let alone spell, not a favourite and prefers to watch....Now, a maritime chart is a different thing, much more interesting to the skipper.
Looking west at the setting sun in Cala Saura - it's easy to watch these every night and never get bored of them.
With the setting of the sun, so we have the rising of a full moon and the shimmering of the moon light on the water. Hmmm, it was better in real life than this photo shows. Hey ho.
So it's good night from Watermark IV and the crew and tomorrow we set off for Cala Santa Galdana, just a few miles eastwards towards Mahon.
