Title: Up the Rock

Decided to do the tourist bit today and travel up the ROCK. I was all for walking but got convinced by the Swift's that the cable car was the best idea. Hmmmm, of course it was. We thought by leaving it until mid week it may be quieter. However, the P&O cruise liner "Oceana" was in so the town was pretty busy. It was odd seeing the ship here as I normally pass it in Southampton Water!!!

Winds today were from the East and so the rock had it's famous cloud rushing up one side and flowing off the top out over the bay - a little like the snow off the top of Everest. The air really accelerates up the eastern side and something we'll have to be aware off when we set sail from Gibraltar. A nice 15knt south westerly would be great please.!!!

The apes were all about today which gave Charlie a lot of fun. He spent hours just watching them almost demanding tolls to pass them by. Very nervous!!!!!

Charlie continues to fish in the marina catching "starters only" but we all know that the bigger stuff won't come until we're out of Gibraltar. AND - school is now in session. Headmaster Marky is not proving popular but we are starting to get into a routine with some Maths tests, postcard writing, emailing and setting up his first spreadsheet.

Interestingly, we've had a number of emails from friends and family, all full of advice as to how to handle Charlie - keel hauling seems to be top of the list. Hmmmmm....they know him so well.

We are all now starting to relax a little more and get into a routine which will be essential. Life here means going to bed a lot later but also getting up much later. Sounds ok to us. Just now, it seems that the only decision is - "What are we eating tonight...." just love those big red mis-shapen tomatoes in vinegar and olive oil with a chunk of bread.

Weather has been great. Still a little rain about but essentially blues skies, sun and a lot warmer. I've managed to pick up a small tan and temperatures on board are getting up to the late twenties - not sure what they'll be as we travel into the Med and it gets warmer still and probably less breeze.. Watch this space.
