Well yesterday was a day of highs and lows. The high was at about 10am when I was approached by the skipper and my yachtmaster ocean instructor and asked if I could help crew an Oyster 855 (see pic) to Bermuda (they would arrange flights to get me back to Antigua). The yacht was leaving the next day (today). By 10.30am I was packing my bag.

Then the low kicked in…..what started as a slight swelling on my lip, had within 2 hours turned the right hand side of my face into elephant man. I had had an allergic reaction to something. I took some antihistamines in the hope that it would cure it, but by 4pm I was at the emergency medical centre in St Johns who took the reaction very seriously and pumped one arm with antibodies and the other with steroids and gave me a shed load of medication.

Thankfully the swelling has gone down and I feel almost normal again……but the crewing an oyster 855 will have to wait another day.
