Hello all,

Highs and lows:

Highs - yesterday evening I crossed the 39.46 W point which from a geographical position is bang in the middle of the Atlantic. Since leaving Canaries I have completed over 1700 miles and in the last 5 days I have covered over 550 miles. Depending upon the wind 1100 to 1200 miles to go.

Lows - got up this morning and trod on a dead flying fish on the deck with bare feet - not nice. Fuel is my only major concern and that's because I need to run the engine for a couple of hours each day to top up the batteries. The solar panels probably provide 50% and the engine tops up the rest. My fuel gauge is a stick that in put into the tank and measure the depth but with the rocking of the boat its difficult to get an accurate measure but I’m sure I’ve got 1/3 tank left and I'm worrying unnecessarily. If it gets desperately low I will start shutting down critical systems leaving maybe just the AIS on at night. Could be worse I could be in an aeroplane. What hasn’t helped is the last few days its been very humid but little sun so the solar hasn’t been as effective.

Time - I’ve got no idea what the time is and still using the uk so I really do need to adjust to the local time. It should be simple to work out……24 x 60 hours = 1440 minutes for the world to rotate. The longitude split into 360 degrees. So each degree equals 1440/360 = 4 min. GMT = 0 mins I’m at longitude of 40 degrees so 40 x 4 = 160 minutes or 2hrs 40min behind uk time. I think thats right if not please someone let me know?
