Hello all,

Hardly any wind yesterday so I spent the day having a bit of a sort out, then I read for a bit, slept a bit, looked out to sea a bit, checked my chart a bit, listened to music a bit and the rest of the time….I just wasted that away…

At about 3pm I put the motor on….Ive enough fuel to motor for 2 or 3 days if necessary and that's before I hit the reserves, so to make up a bit of time I decided to motor until 3am and sleep on deck.

At about 2am I woke up and had a look around. The sea was flat calm and all around me were what I can only describe as tiny fairy lights going on and off as far as I could see. It was amazing and I honestly thought I was dreaming. What I was seeing was even more amazing. It was the tiny eyes of flying fish hundreds of them reflected from my head torch as they leapt just a few inches out of the water.

At 5pm I woke to a slight breeze from the east. Quick as a flash the sails were up motor off and I was sailing again at 4 knots the same as I had been motoring.

I then put the music on which happened to be dire straits, made myself a coffee and sat and watched the sun rise….and I then had a moment of….this is all just fantastic….

Hopefully in the next 24 hrs I can start to firm up on an eta at Sant Cruz La Palma.
