Arrival in Tahiti 1500hrs
Suddenly from the remote, isolated island of Nuku Hiva, population eighteen hundred, we arrive after five days of intense fast sailing seemingly in Metropolitan France. Our berth if alongside the quay in the centre of town has bars that front the marina which full of affluent relaxed people. Apparently mostly but not exclusively French. We wet search of the real Papeete and discovered a park full of restaurant vans that had all set tables and clothes in a tasteful way.  They were offering a variety of food, from BBqs to local Polynesian dishes, mixed with French and Chinese cuisine. We indulged in French cider, sardines for me and  parts from inside animals that that I would through away for David – andouillettes.

Engine Control
Our approach to Tahiti and and the dramatic volcanic terrain, was not enhanced by the failure of our newly fixed engine control, that jammed and broke on first use. Swift work with screw driver and mole grips saw us a ok to enter harbour and mooring.

We intend to explore and get our rigging fully checked prior to leaving for Bora Bora.
