We have now had 48 hours of beating into a strong southwesterly. Very uncomfortable; too difficult to cook properly, so it was pizzas two nights ago and stew from cans last night (very nice actually, but perhaps it tasted better due to the circumstances). Our current plan is to get south of the Cape Verde Islands where the weather reports are indicating that easterly winds (ie. winds blowing towards the west) are setting in at last.  But first we will have to endure a day or so of very light winds which will probably mean bobbing about with no sails. Frustrating to say the least.
