A concert in the vines

Just for a change and in support of a good cause we went to an outdoor concert on Saturday, the 'Concert in the Vines', held in aid of the Auckland Rescue Helicopter Trust - just like in the UK this essential service (the helicopter was supposed to be present, but was called away on a successful rescue) shamefully depends upon public donations. The concert was held in a local vinyard from 1500-2100hrs because everyone in NZ likes to get home to bed good and early, and was a huge success. Perhaps the blazing sunshine helped, but numbers had doubled from last year to well over 700 and at $30 per ticket that's quite a boost to the helicopter. Well worth going, and thoroughly recommended to anyone reading this who can go next year - Simon?

Here is one of the best acts amongst a really eclectic list, young tenor Anthony Utama from Auckland who really was extremely good. You can hear him sing if you go onto his website.

In true NZ fashion the next day was grey, miserable and wet. Ugh.
