Back to civilisation at last

New Zealand is a wonderful place. Here is photographic proof:

Yep, this really is a pork pie, the first I've seen since leaving the UK. Actually it's not the first or even the second because I ate those without photographing them. But it is the third. Bliss. This is a really civilised lunch; straight from the fridge, preparation time almost zero - just long enough to pour out the Heinz tomato sauce. The only cloud on the horizon is that we are down to our last bottle and haven't seen it in NZ yet.

And in the background you can see my Kindle. I now far prefer reading this to a 'real' book, but for some reason the Kindle system does not yet operate on the Pacific islands. But it does in NZ, so I can easily download again. It's just like magic. Someone told me of an interesting book yesterday, and five minutes later I was reading it. I'm still in awe of the fantastic power of the thing (and wonderfully, it is driving up readership rates across the world). Unfortunately the other half of the crew has decided after some uncertainty that she likes it too, leading to the discovery that one is just not enough!
