We hope to arrive tonight in Palma, after 3818 miles and 22 days at sea,
this last leg has been done in just 9 days.
Of course we are pleased to arrive, but it's been quite an experience, we
had had our challenges and been severely tested at times and some easy times
on the transatlantic. It has of course been hard for me ( Lyster) to do this
trip without what seemed my right hand, (Sheena) having done so many oceans
together it was quite unsettling and strange.
However the crew for this trip have been fantastic, sailing with my two
brothers Giles and Julius has been a real treat, and of course sailing with
Paul. Paul and I have done 13,500 miles together, which is a testament to
our friendship and his patience in the quirky way I manage Truant.
So for me a big thank you to Sheena in helping get Truant ready for the
crossing, my two Bros, Julius for dropping everything and coming out early
to Antigua when Sheena was unable to make the trip and Giles for putting
down his tools at work and joining us for the last leg, but for both sharing
the experience and Paul for being the perfect 1st Mate and chef
The star of the show is the mighty Truant, without her immense capabilities
this would not be possible. She has looked after us, shrugged off us our
pushing her hard, leapt across the ocean and kept us going when were all
feeling a little low, not just on the last trip but for the last 22 years.
My last thanks to all those that have bothered to follow our blog, for us
knowing that maybe someone is out there that might be interested in our
adventure gave us a huge amount of comfort, the daily routine of getting the
blog out was a great motivator even when Truant was on her beam ends and we
had difficulty sitting at the chart table holding on to the key board.
Look out Palma here we come!
