A good sail yesterday, but last night at dark the wind came in from the NE
so we are motor sailing into light winds and slight seas, a little lumpy at
times, we hope the wind will move more to the east as the day progresses.
Yesterday the Captain went up the rig to the top of the mast to have a look
at the wind meter and was unable to get it working, it needs to come down
and be taken apart and worked on, reasonably confident that it will be
repairable in Azores, in the meantime we've resorted to the old fashion was
of putting our faces to the wind to gauge the strength, actually it works
quite well. Our new chef on board seems to have settled in well and
continues to keep the crew well fed. We had a alarming time yesterday in
search of baked beans only to find baked beans with pork sausages... the
Captain was about to write a stiff letter to the 'provisioner', but
remembered that it was he who was in sole charge of the baked bean
provisioning, thus reinforcing our belief in the 'the Peter Principle'.
