And probably a good thing too. Today I have mainly been waiting for coats of varnish to dry! I'd brought a large tin thinking that it would be more cost-effective, but despite religiously replacing the lid every time I used it, the damn stuff is starting to coagulate. It was OK if a little thick today, but tomorrow I think I'll be lucky if it's still usable, and I've only used half a tin!!!

OK, it would look better without the ring but that'll just have to wait.
Nicola the Publisher would like me to go to their shindig up in Aberdeen on then 1st October (the book launch); looking at ways /prices involved in getting there has been instructive
Coach fares are £80 return (cheapest) and the trip takes about 15/16 hours each way.
Train fares are about £160 return and that takes about 8 hours
Flying from Southampton costs about £234 return and doesn't take very long at all but then I'll need a night in B&B in Aberdeen whichever way I go. One incentive to fly (the only one actually) is coming back on the 2nd Oct (a Sunday) the Virgin train doesn't leave until 1515 and the trip takes.....15 bloody hours. So either I spend another night in B&B or go up by train and back by bus, no point in spending twice the money to go at the same speed and have an overnight trip now is there?.
