WIND!

Oh dear!  After accusing the flying fish of deliberately avoiding me yesterday, I was sad to see one on deck this morning, very dead.  He-or-she’d obviously misjudged a leap in the dark.  Too small and bony for breakfast though.

And I’ve found a way to photograph the chart plotter screen so you can see what I mean about the twisty turny ocean bottom contours.  Eery don’t you think?

But the big news today is that the wind is back!  At last.  15 to 17 knots since late morning.  We had full main and poled out genoa up until mid-afternoon giving 6.5 to 7 kn water speed.  But as the wind picks up, the sea state also increases which means we started rocking around quite a bit too.  This is a classic feature of downwind sailing and not a very comfortable one.  But it is better than motoring.  David's not so sure, he keeps saying he’s going to trade Qing in for a motor yacht so’s not to have to faff with the wind at all.  Just charge up the diesel tanks, point and go.   He may have a point.

We’ve had the fishing line out again today, but nothing’s biting so far.

Glad to hear the garden’s looking good Harri. Don’t forget to bring me some pics when you come out here. Not long now. Just keep up the revision while those exams are on.

Hi Rufus.  I’m happy to say we haven’t tried out the life raft yet. And what’s more I really hope we don’t have to!  They’re not very comfortable and they don’t even have windows.

Hi Phoebe.  I hope the guinea pigs behave themselves when they come to stay.  Will mummy let you keep them in your bedroom?

Love to all
