Hi all

The strong winds which stopped us heading to the South of France are heading west to east across the north of Elba.

We are uncertain if this weather pattern is creating currents around the island or if the currents along the south coast of Elba are normally on shore. It seems at the moment that whatever the wind does the swell here stays southerly.. well at the moment anyway.

Our intention to explore the north coast of Elba got changed by the northerly forecast and potential rain so we headed south again to seek a protected bay.

Firstly a night in Laconia followed by Stella. Lovely bay's but with mixed sun and cloud and a dreaded southerly swell which crept into the bay at a resonance that kept Tioram rolling at times quite violently like a washing machine. With a forecast for heavy rain we eventually motored back to Portoferraio in drizzle...around a 60nm round trip....not much fun.

We anchored in the protected shallow bay, the rain finally cleared and we took some lovely sunset photos.

Portoferraio sunset in the bay.

Love to all

T and T xx
