Gulfi di Arzachena by motorbike, Nuraghe archaeological site, Sardinia. 1st August 2015.

Hi all,

 

After a few days pf being boat bound in high winds we decided we needed some land time.

We hired a scooter to explore the Gulfi di Arzachena and the Nuraghe archaeological sites. 

In the Greek islands you can almost always see most of the island by scooter in one day….one of our real pleasures.  Sardinia is a deceptively large island, needing a car, but a scooter or motorbike gets you in touch with the elements, just like sailing, so we explored Arzachena.

 

There are several sites across Sardinia but we visited the ones in Arzachena, the main one being the  Nuraghe La Prisgiona a village occupied from the 14th until the 9th century B.C located in the Capichera valley. 

 

The village has been excavated with around 90-100 buildings, spread across 5 hectares. We got some interesting photos of the site shown below.

Also we visited  the Giants grave Coddu Vecchio in the same area. An interesting day ashore.
