On 9th June we lifted anchor from Porto Palma, island,of Caprera and motored 12 n miles to Porto Pozzo bay. The small narrow entrance to the bay opens to a larger area to anchor off the town. A simple local place, but with a great find on the beach.....La Battina restaurante.

The restaurant has all the characteristics of a Greek beach taverna, rare in Sardinia. We arrived at around 7.30pm, almost the first there thinking that this could be a disaster. Far from it, within half an hour it was full of local people, visitors and yachties. The large BBQ grill kicked off with logs burning and the chef using the logs and cinders to regulate the heat under wonderful fresh fish, sardinian sausages and meats. The open kitchen alongside burst into action and lots of attentive staff served the waiting visitors.

The simple plastic tables and chairs now full of people, the sun setting, lots of laughter and the traditional chef cooking his food with great care and masterchef-like attention.......what an atmosphere.

The photos convey the atmosphere......great find.

Love to all
