Hi all,

In 2013, in  Greece we were moored alongside the waterfront in Samil, Kefalonia.  A small 33-35ft charter yacht came and moored in front of us. The two girls on board were trying to sort out a problem as a halyard had gone up the mast and it was impossible to reach.  We watched as the girls tried everything to retrieve it , finally trying their boat pole which was well short.  Tony went to their rescue with another long boat pole which was taped to theirs......but still well short of the halyard way up in the air on the rig

Tony suggested to me that he should help them by going up the rig. I wasn't too happy as Tony always goes up our rig with two lines, very safe, with electric winches and on our own very well maintained yacht. The thought of one rope on an unknown charter yacht wasn't really my idea of safe.  Tony looked at the girls and kindly decided to go up the mast with myself, the girls and another passing 'strong ' fella called in to provide brut force.  Eventually Tony reached the swinging halyard and returned to the deck.......in one piece.....all good.

Later that evening we shared a bottle of wine......with the girls...... Berendine and Anita.....and so this is how lives cross and people meet......stories are shared.....like travellers  and seafarers of old.

And so this is how on 16th May Berendine and Anita flew into Spain, we welcomed them on board Tioram to sail from Spain to Sardinia, to enjoy a holiday in Sardinia.......and how travellers and strangers who cross paths become friends.

On the 17th May at 09.32 hrs we slipped our lines to sail from Spain to Sardinia.

We said good bye to family and friends with our Spanish friends Pepe and Maria waving us from the dock as we sailed away from the marina.

We set up a watch system and gently settled into offshore sailing mode before going into the overnight watches......a 150 n mile sail to Formentera, Balearics.

The wind direction and sea state was just wonderful. Calm seas, a pleasant breeze with us gently sailing along at 5-7 knots over the ground.....a perfect start for Berendine and Anita to gain their sea legs.  A slow crossing of 28 hrs, but perfect and very comfortable arriving to anchor off the beautiful Espalmador beach, Formentera at 13.00 hrs on 18th May.
