At 05.50 hrs on 30th September after a totally still night, an unforecast wind suddenly kicked in on shore in Palma Nova bay. In only 15 t knots our anchor alarm set tight started beeping and Tioram started to slip back at anchor on the thick weedy seabed. We had very carefully anchored knowing the thick weed there is difficult.

The sprint we do from naked to fully clothed and life jackets in hand is worthy of Oscar performance.....I'm only pleased no- one else has to see it!!! At each overnight anchorage  I lay out my clothes in order of need....as insurance...rarely needed... but saves a naked and cold arrival on deck ha.

We started Tioram engine and in only 18 knots continued to fall back on shore, so with plenty of water and still a long safe distance from the beach, we decided to lift the anchor. In the onshore wind there was not point in trying to reset, so chart plotter on, radar and VHF on and out into the black open Palma bay and deep water.

With very few opportunities to re anchor safely in the dark we gently motored around the large bay approx 15 miles wide and decided to continue at sea until dawn.

At dawn we tried a couple of anchorages, desperate for some sleep but with a sizeable swell we decided to hold off and head into Palma city Marinas once they opened.

At 09.30 hrs we very happily handed our lines to a smiling marina guy who tied us to the dock.

We rested for a while and then enjoyed a wonderful day and evening in the beautiful city, a reward for our night at sea. The marina office said, ' go and enjoy yourselves and we'll give you good price for 2 nights'. The price was €350 and we could believe we could still be turned over after all our travelling and negotiating. We paid the € 175 euros for one night on 30th sept and left At 12 noon the next day to head to Santa Ponsa to anchor.

We had a wonderful evening and very calm overnight in this lovely location before lifting anchor at 07.29 hrs on the 2nd October to sail to Ibiza..

Early morning arrival into Palma Marina

Palma, beautiful city

Early morning start leaving Santa Ponca

Love to all
