Hi all,
On 8th Sept we sailed from Porto Rafael in 11 knots true wind to Bonifacio, Corsica.
Arriving in Bonifacio is always spectacular with the citadel high above and the narrow harbour lined with old French buildings.
Tony and I spent the evening exploring the citadel and old narrow alleyways now lined with restaurants and shops.
As we started to climb down the steep steps of the citadel to head back to the waterfront harbour we noticed a fire engine and two me opening a kind of electric box. The next minute the steps and whole citadel was thrown into darkness......we thought a problem.....then a 'full on ' firework display started, lighting up the citadel and reflecting in the water below.
When we got to the waterfront, we saw a couple with a child of about 5 or 6 years old. I nearly tripped over her as she was lying star shaped on the dark footpath enjoying the firework display whilst her parents stood also side her.
With my cricked neck position, I thought how great it would be to just lie on the warm pavement and relax and enjoy the show.........why is it that children can do this and as adults we would be regarded as a little crazy......somehow we loose these qualities and I wish I had, had the nerve to just lie there and indulge, immerse myself in the 30 minute display......just like the child. Perhaps another time.... Sadly I didn't feel comfortable with taking a photo of the little girl for you to see.
Later that evening on the waterfront there was a tango display..... with local French people dancing and taking the whole thing very seriously, very interesting and atmospheric.

Love to all
