After a second very different calm night at anchor in Vlikho, Levkas… with the predicted high winds not materialising, we lifted anchor at 10.00 hrs. on 27^th June to head north along the coast of the island of Levkas.

In light winds we motored the 7.5 n miles and anchored near the shore of the small village of Ligia.  

The following morning, 28^th a beautiful motor gentleman’s yacht steamed by us at anchor. Tony was convinced the yacht was the one used in Mama Mia. The shot of the film when Meryl Streep and girls dance all over the yacht with coloured scarves and fabric flowing in the breeze. The yacht has a fairly unique shape and funnels.   In a documentary about the making of the film the producer said that the yacht which had been chartered for the filming was unable to arrive for some reason……bet the owner has never forgotten that……instead the motor yacht chartered by Bjon from Abba for his own use, was then used in the filming instead.  It passed us and went across the bay from Ligia , anchoring near the shore in a quiet area away from other yachts……..so who was on board we wonder, looking for privacy ???

We lifted anchor at 11.15 hrs. heading east trickling along the shore of the Greek mainland on the genoa, making de-sal water, finally arriving at 13.45hrs in a bay called Varkho.  It is a nice open bay with a beach and tiny beach bar.

On 29^th we motored east along the shore of the Greek mainland to a small harbour town called Palairos where we anchored for a few hours. By 15.30 we were making the most of the 12 knots true wind to sail south to the island of Meganisi, to a favourite of ours, Port Atheni.
