For three days now we have ended the night with a wistful, “No boats, no fish”.
Well no more! 
We have now spotted 3 ships in our little bit of the ocean, (ok we only actually only saw 1 but the others were close enough to be on our AIS system and that counts too). 

Last night Bob D. pulled in a beautiful Dourado, also known as Mahi Mahi. It was swiftly taken care of and we look forward to our dinner tonight.  Not to be outdone, John caught a fish this morning;  it is a tiny bit smaller than Bob’s but John seemed pleased.
Life is good.

For the past 36 hours the winds have been more or less from the northeast ranging between 10 and 17 kts. During the afternoon with a light wind consistently at our back but a little too light for our heavy sails we thought we would experiment and try an innovative new sail plan.  The idea was for the Jib to keep the the light wind in the Genoa – hmmmm?  Technically I’m sure there is another name for it but essentially we put up everything we’ve got. It worked incredibly well over the day yielding boat speed averaging 6kts. Ha! It was a bit of fun for a few hours!

Last night was lovely with a bright quarter moon, this afternoon we see it again. It will be waxing for another week then waining as we go.  If we’re lucky we’ll have moonlight for the rest of our voyage.

John, with his cast iron tummy, cooked dinners the first few nights. Last night Cathy warmed up delicious chicken curry and today whipped up a banana cake. Bob G. took his turn at lunch today.  Everyone is feeling well.

Spurred on by recent successes fishing lines are out again today!
