Essacudio. ..the port we really must visit by boat as we travel down this coast.

Our next day was a sightseeing trip to the coast. To the tourist seaside resort and fishing port of Essacudio.
We had a very comfortable Mercedes to take us the 160 kilometer route.
For most of the journey we were surrounded by baron soil and goat herders trying to make the most of what greenery they could find.

We arrived on the Atlantic coast to find a real working fishing port and a seaside beach and promenade that would look quite in place anywhere in Northern Europe.

The Fishing Port.
There were several large fishing trawlers and also hundreds of small boats for catching bass, shark, crabs, sardines, eels and other indescribable things.
They were selling their fish on the ground, on the walls even on ‘tressles’, wow!

There was a local ‘Chef du Jour’ who had a barbecue of sorts in a tin can and would cook your fish to perfect specification required – I wonder if he had a little parsley sauce to go with it.
The Smell of rotting fish was just over-the-top. We needed those bunches of mint from the Tannery again! Thousands upon thousands of seagulls swooping to catch anything they could steal off of the ground, the sales trestles or the pickup trucks. Pooping everywhere – just don’t look up!

The port was so colorful with the small bright blue and yellow fishing boats and the cute rust stains highlighting the delicate rivets of the trawlers  …aaaah! So cute.

Three normal North European sailing yachts had moored up here.
Why??  Are they crazy!!!
One had fresh laundry hanging out and another was sitting out in the cockpit. Hopefully not on the poop!

We then had a lovely lunch overlooking the amazing beach. The beach had to be 20 kilometers long. There was also a small Medina here but not at all like the one in Marrakech - much more sanitized!

This had been a Great day!
