We are finally back in the Bahamas. Checked in and ready to start enjoying this beautiful island group ... once the weather calms down a bit.
We went down a very shallow track at high tide, through a cut in the coral and into the extraordinarily protected Great Harbour Cay marina - where customs is located . Formalities were simple and quick, but with the rising tide, we were "stuck" inside for the night. Not a bad place to spend an evening , where there was a cruisers "pot luck" and we got to meet some people.
Bit of frustration sorting out the phone/ internet connection - involving 2 bike rides and a dinghy ride to the local BTC office. The Bahamian islands are so flat , that the BTC cell phone towers are a landmark wherever they sit. And right under the tower, is the office.
Tomorrow we head to Chub Cay - where the marina was destroyed in the most recent Hurricane. We will anchor overnight and then cross over to Nassau. Some more nasty weather coming, so will try to tuck in on the west end of the island.
