Atlantico Marina, Leixoes, Nr Oporto, Portugal

Sunshine, wonderful sunshine at last. Folks popping out of their boats and waving to each other, feeling we've all been in dark damp caves all week. The screeching in the rigging has stopped but the squeaking ropes continue thanks to the swell working its way around the harbour and into the marina. Also the Pilot Boats coming and going kick up quite a violent wash creating havoc on board for a few minutes with the swell they create out of the blue. Otherwise all is calm outside and morale is rising all round!

Bol spotted an incy wincy leak on the top of the injector pump on the diesel engine so we have an engineer coming at 10am tomorrow, Sunday, let's hope it isn't anything too serious as we would like to take advantage of the northerly wind due on Tuesday. We were however rather horrified to see the size of the enormous and beautiful breakers on the beach this evening; despite a stunning sunset behind them they were a stark reminder that the ocean will need several days of calmness before it is a friendly place to sail upon again.

A lovely relaxed evening on board with the four of us sitting around the saloon table chatting over supper, listening to music and then playing a round of Rummy; that 'family time' we were looking forward to and very precious it is too.
