We liked La Coruna and we really like Muros!

The temperature is perfect, the water is warm, and during a walk ashore we finally found the architecture that we were hoping and expecting of Spain with old narrow streets and interesting architecture.

It was exceptionally low tide this morning and the beach was covered with cockle pickers, perhaps 40, either digging on the sand or trawling in the shallow water. "School" was a disaster to start with as Isabelle wanted to join them by rowing over to the beach and explore. It was difficult to inflict maths on such enthusiasm so she, and shortly after, Harry, spend two hours in the shallow water trawling for all sorts of things. When they returned they added their new found creatures (baby spider crabs, baby lobster, a few small fish, hermit crabs, cockles, clams) into their 'Creatures We Have Seen On The Trip' book and did some drawings, so it was a kind-of 'alternative schooling' today. We are also starting to read about Columbus so feel we didn't do too badly!

A very hot afternoon so all four of us had a go at scrubbing the hull with snorkels, fins and scrubbers. At the supermarket Isabelle found some much better scrubbers so we had a second go this evening. Thursday's Child has a slight layer of green which we hope to remove by diving each day for a few days. It should keep us fit as it is exhausting without scuba equipment, especially diving down to the keel holding a breath. The children did well and were very enthusiastic to help. Start 'em young..

A very eerie mist has materialised from the east, the Pilot Book warns of such a phenomenon in these waters. Fortunately it arrived after we watched the beautiful orange orb of the full moon rise over the eastern end of the Ria. Now we can hardly see the moon at all thanks to the mist enveloping the harbour.
