Ria de Camarinas

Our Shalfleet School friends went back to school today which made it slightly easier for us to do some more things than just diaries this morning. Isabelle is rather enjoying learning Spanish words so we have begun a new book for her to write things down in, Harry not so enthusiastic but we thought we would try five words a day. Bol and Harry then drew the mullet we dissected the other day, outer today and insides tomorrow! We have a great booked called 'Lessons Plans Afloat' and there are many topics covered that relate in a relevant way to board, it is very helpful.

Bol then cut up the fish found in the harbour yesterday and showed the children how to cut the fish into strips for bait, keeping the silvery skin on to make it shine. He and Harry then headed off up the Ria, Bol rowing slowly and Harry trailing his fishing line with three hooks of fish on. Sadly, no fish for supper, but no shortage of enthusiasm.

I then spent 2hours reading Michael Morpurgo's "Shadow" to the children, none of us wanted me to stop, a really gripping story. After tea, they both wanted to make bags so we got the sail mending kit out and they each have a bag made from spare fender sock material.

So a constant stream of things going on despite none of us stepping ashore all day.
