Bayona, Spain

A big moment today taking the Portuguese courtesy flag down and hoisting the Spanish flag as we approached the southern port of Bayona.

We had an uneventful first 24hours with hardly any wind so the motor chugged steadily on through a beautiful silvery night. The moon shone so brightly that it lit everything on deck making it hardly feel like a night watch at all.

Hans managed to spot some dolphins and we all had a few sightings of sunfish, lolling on their sides waving their little fins and their big beady eye looking up, quite an extraordinary sight.

We anticipated the wind to increase around noon so were pleased to be able to sail 'goose winged' for several hours, munching up the miles without the motor. Then as Bayona approached the low really began to hit us with visibility reduced to half a mile and 35 knot gusts, a little more dramatic than we would have liked but Dream~Delivery~Team~TC all got stuck into their respective roles and brought TC safely into the welcoming pontoon of Monte Real Club de Yates here in Bayona.

Slightly perplexed at the 45 knots due off Finisterre at the weekend so will aim to Camarinas tomorrow and then sit tight.
It would be good to get north of Finisterre and back into the Shipping Forecast.
