Cedeira

Harry was determined to snorkel again this morning and take his underwater camera, he was really chuffed to take some photos of several types of fish. It was just a pity he turned blue so quickly ~ we are very grateful we brought our wetsuits as we definitely need them still.

We had the two Pollock for lunch, the first time the children have eaten what they've caught and they enjoyed the big moment... "delicious" .

2pm left Viveiro and headed 30 miles west to Cedeira, had a cracking sail along the coast with NE wind, and tide under us making the water fizz. Dramatic scenery unfolded as we past each headland (wind turbines absolutely everywhere...) and as we approached Cedeira there was a constant roar as the swell broke on the rocks.

From the tranquility of the passage we were plunged straight back into urban life when we turned into the bay with jet skis, ski boats and tourist fishing boats all around us. The wonderful thing about sailing however is that you can pick your anchorage  and very quickly you are back to being in your own little world again.

Bol was kept on his toes upon arrival with requests to go fishing from both Harry and Isabelle but sadly supper was tinned tuna not fresh fish. At least they are now motivated having had their first taste.

There is a long sandy beach which I had presumed that the children would like, then Harry spotted a tiny sandy cove tucked away from anywhere else and announced "that is where I am spending tomorrow". Oh dear, his parents' dislike of crowds has rubbed off onto him already. Great sight of him last night standing alone on a rock, casting his line into the water, he has a telescopic fishing rod which is perfect, light, and easy to cast. Let's hope one of these days it brings in supper.  (Last night's fish were caught on a static line dangling down from the boat with six hooks on it, not one of the rods).

Thank you for lovely emails sent to     sadlertc at gmail.com      We are delighted so many of you are enjoying the daily entries and will get around to replying eventually.
