Vascão to Alcoutim

Our last magic day in the Vascão.

Today's main activity was Mrs Minchin's 'School of Hard Knocks Easter Egg Hunt'. (Yes we know it should be on Sunday but we will be in town on Sunday so we did it today whilst still in the wilderness).

Whilst Bol was doing 'school' I paddled ashore to hide 60 mini-eggs and to keep it simple kept to six trees. Conveniently they were eggs without wrappers so it wouldn't matter if we didn't find them all as they would soon melt away to nothing ... or get eaten.

Returning with the family half an hour later we were horrified to find a snake in one of the trees and ants all over the eggs! Never mind, just wait til the snake slithers away and shake the ants off the eggs and move on..... After that, we all felt it was an appropriate time to be moving off from this beautiful part of the world!

After a final swim on the weir we headed back down to Alcoutim whilst munching on the Hot Cross Buns straight from the oven, mmmmmm. Seeing plenty of activity ashore in Alcoutim we had a walk about town to soak up the atmosphere. There were 'Stations of the Cross' paintings nailed onto trees with candles lit underneath and clearly plenty of things going on tomorrow judging from the marquee, crowds and atmosphere.

Four days planned here, then out of here on Wednesday.

Photos tomorrow
