All four Minchins into shorts today, hooray! Really beautiful sunny day, although the wind from the north has a slight chill to it if you are in the shade.

A flock of screeching green parrots flew over us today, we couldn't think what they were initially, and then saw their beautiful long tail feathers. Lovely to see them flying free, we feel rather sad at the sight of birds in their cages stuck on the fronts of houses, a curious hobby that we also saw in Lisbon. The air was also filled with the aerial display and chirping of Swallows, are they en route to the Isle of Wight we wonder!

Starting to do boat admin in preparation for our departure on Thursday which looks like a horribly early start if we are to get to the entrance of the River Guadiana with enough water. The children were very good today, Isabelle's imaginative play occupies her for hours, and Harry has really got into reading which is very rewarding to see.

We filled the water tanks up, then realised we hadn't tasted the water which turned out to be horrible thanks to the rubber hose we borrowed, so spent 30 minutes emptying the tank before refilling using our hose. We then noticed the water tank leaking so that is another job for the morning.

Rota has an American Naval Base 1 mile away and we have had helicopters and aeroplanes taking off and circling us all day.
