We have just returned to the familiar surroundings of the boat after a very enjoyable but busy two days in Seville. We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in a very friendly and architecturally intriguing hotel. Following our return trip on the coach Jojo and I collapsed into the cockpit with a cup of tea as we all rested aching feet. It was 32 degrees in the city today during our exploring which was very nice, but tiring. (We thought of Hamish & family in New Hampshire at minus 24 degrees!).

This morning we walked past the stunning Cathedral and found the Setas de Seville an amazing structure built in the city centre and wandered about on the walkways on the roof admiring the structure and the views. It suddenly appears as you enter a plaza and is apparently the biggest wooden structure in any city.

Then it was on to the Museum of Navigation which was rather small, but had a futuristic model of a ship designed to use no fossil fuels to deliver its cargo of 10,000 cars around the world, hopefully in operation in 2025. It was housed in an interesting building that was part of the Expo 1992 alongside the River Guadaquiver. Outside there is a constant stream of rowing boats practising all through the day. Teams from all over Europe spend their winters training in Seville because the weather is good and the river calm.

Before finally climbing onto the bus we visited the Plaza de Espana which covers 50,000sq meters and was built in 1929 for the Latin American Exhibition and was really impressive. i think we all came away feeling there is much more to see in the city and that we really enjoyed the incredible variety of architecture, the feeling of space and vibrancy. What an amazing place....
