Cadiz

We were so pleased with the decision to come to Rota as this morning dawned beautiful and calm. We had a quick walk around the historical area before returning to TC to get her ready to sail the 6 miles to Cadiz.

The kettle was on for a quick cuppa before leaving and so we were delighted to welcome on board Peter and Gill from their Oyster 50 "Silver Girl" who popped over to say 'hello' ~ the kettle was topped up further and we enjoyed a half hour in the sunshine comparing stories. They also left England in July but they are sailing indefinitely............ not just for one year off! Harry and Isabelle were able to tell fishing stories before the fishing rod, lures and other gear made its way on deck too.

We had a very gentle sail across the Bay of Cadiz and came into Puerto America Marina for two nights. The marina is 1km from the city centre and so once we were settled (and a few mullet had been caught & released from the pontoon) we headed into the city to explore.

We found a labyrinth of cobbled streets and before getting totally lost we finally thankfully found a tourist kiosk who gave us a map. A fascinating city with high sided, long, dark, cobbled, pedestrian streets, packed with shops. We never really got the hang of the layout but hopefully we can return tomorrow and get our bearings more.

Still no wifi so this being sent without photos from our phone.
