Since I mended the wind generator we have not had a breath of wind and that state continued today.

It has been another hot and sunny day once the sun burnt off the mist that hangs over the river in the mornings. Harry and I went to explore the ancient 14th century castle that stands above the village of Alcoutim while the girls had a restful day on the boat. It was beautiful walking around the battlements in the hot sunshine. We were the only people there for the entire time. They also had a collection of Collar doves and Budgerigars in outdoor cages which were very beautiful.

Harry and I then gave the hard working dinghy a good scrub, as the river mud was making it look a bit unloved. It is now much closer to its original colour.

Living on the river has meant we see some interesting sites. The people here use the river as a roadway and their boats are used in the way most people use a car. The picture shows some friends returning their cement mixer from the village to their house further down the river. In the past they transported everything they needed to build their entire house in this dinghy, including some 6 meter long timbers!
