Alcoutim

The days feel like spring but the nights feel like mid-winter; as soon as the sun disappears behind the valley sides the temperature plummets. We're getting a little more organised about making sure we're all snug inside the boat by 5pm.

The 'Eberspacher' heater is doing a good job blowing out warm air and is run for a few hours in the morning and evening. It is wonderfully simple with a large on and off button. Much chat to other boat owners on how they warm their boats, it seems to be either Reflex diesel heaters, Eberspachers or wood burning stoves.

Our wind generator hasn't been working for a while so Bol did a brilliant job of tracing the fault to some wires that had become disconnected inside the upright tube. By using a spinnaker pole he was able to lift the generator vertically, trace and then sort the problem out. Of all possibilities, miraculously it was the simplest to solve. Since then of course, there hasn't been a breath of wind!

We are very impressed with the two solar panels which seem to cope with the electricity demands, it is only if we have a run of cloudy days that we need to run the engine to recharge the batteries.

We are going to check the weather shortly as we are thinking of dragging ourselves away on Tuesday......
