La Guadiana River

We decided against leaving today and spent a very relaxing day alongside the pontoon in Marina de Guadiana. The four children had a ball fishing from first light until we 'dragged' them off to the beach. I believe there are 21 mullet in the marina with sore lips, "catching and releasing" was clearly quite addictive.

The beach was huge and empty, all four children went into the water despite a chilly southerly breeze blowing, sensibly all got out before they turned blue. It was quite a long walk to the beach and back so they did well and were rewarded with delicious bangers and mash on Martha Primrose. Plenty of space for all of us to tuck into her cosy saloon where her wood stove has been burning for several days ~ the beautiful smell of wood smoke wafts pass us here on TC.

Ashley designed and built Martha Primrose and she really is a work of art. Despite being similar in size to Partridge, she was designed to be sailed by one, quite incredible. Isabelle has been invited on board tomorrow to go with them up the River. The tide here is 3knots in both directions with not much slack in between, with low water around 10am we hope to be underway around then. We plan to head 20 miles or so to Alcoutim, and a further 4 miles to Ribeira de Vascao where, no pressure, but we have heard there are wild terrapins ...
