It is Thursday morning with bright sunshine and marsh birdsong filling the air. We are sending this via the satellite phone as our usual internet gizmo has run out. We will renew it when we get to Portimao early next week so blogs may not be so regular until then (and no photos or email replies until then either).

Yesterday morning Harry made an excellent decision early on to go to the sandbanks at low water, there were people digging for worms, bait and cockles everywhere but once he came in for breakfast the wind and rain began and stayed for the rest of the day.

To match the miserable weather, Bol read through an illustrated children's book on WWI which kept their attention after breakfast. We also have another book called 'War Game' about the game of football played on Christmas Day 1914 between the trenches, we'll start that in a few week's time.

Thankfully the wind and rain died away by tea time so we could take the dinghy up the river to explore a little before dark. The anchors held well despite strong gusts and we feel pretty secure in this spot as there is no swell to dislodge the anchors.

Happy Thanksgiving to the American side of our families xx

Hopefully we can get ashore earlier tomorrow.
