Well that was night we hope never to be repeated! 4hours were spent holding on with white knuckles as 40 knot gusts and torrential rain beat upon us while horizontal and vertical bolts of lightening crossed our skies and hit the water to port and starboard. We tried running away but ended up hove to for an hour not knowing which direction was likely to take us into a better place. Just after we decided it was not going to pass over us any time soon and resumed motoring into headwinds a ship passed us 0.5 miles to port with horizontal multiple bolts of lightening flashing between us - oh how I wish we could have got  that on the gopro!! Anyway as always it did pass and we brravely resumed our solo watches and got some  sleep. Morning and the day so far has clear sunny skies and lighter headwinds due  to come around to a  sailable diretion from the N before daybreak. All is well with us and fresh bread has been made ann lamb chops are cooking as we make the most of flattish seas.
