Finally decided to leave the boat here in Grand bay Mauritius since by
reputation it seems more secure than the haul out in La Reunion. The rudder post
leak is thoroughly fixed and we’re on a mooring in a sheltered part of the Bay
with local yacht skipper Sunil tasked with looking after her in our absence.
We’ve had our rig inspected by Herve Laurent ex Vende Globe participant and
local guru and should be able to get away with replacing the faulty T balls with
Norseman fittings on our return from the UK. So the only things left to sort out
are the headsail and the Monitor water blade. Mauritius is an interesting place
to leave the boat – the paperwork is endless but most of the officials are
pleasant and helpful – but we still have to jump through the hoops. Looking
forward to our time in the UK, we fly back on Friday June 27th for two and a
half months. |
