We left Tobermory on Sunday and sailed around to Doune on Knoydart to catch
up with Martin, Jane, Alan and Mary. Martin was on the first Threeships North
Atlantic crossing from Florida to Wales and later he and Jane made a major life
change and moved from Sharnbrook Bedfordshire to Doune in Knoydart where they
bought into a communal wilderness accommodation project stated by Alan and Mary.
We later met Alan and Mary in Trinidad on their boat Skybird. Small world where
like minds attract. Yesterday we moved north to Kyle of Lochalsh and under the
Skye bridge to a sheltered anchorage on Raasay. The wind stayed
persistently in the NE, cold and fresh so we spent the day in Portree Skye
waiting for a southerly change. It’s amazing how warm it is ashore in the
sunshine compared to being on the water. Black pudding and chips made a
pleasant change and combating the seagulls – who also like black pudding and
chips – was a challenge. Hopefully off to Lewis and Stornoway
tomorrow. |
