Happily our tidal predictions worked out well and, after stemming the ebb tide for a few hours off Tuscar rock we were carried north up the Irish sea on the new flood at up to 9 knots with a brisk SW following breeze. We rounded Bardsey island at 0300 this morning and were cruising up the north coast of the Llyn peninsula as the sun came up bathing the hills of Snowdonia in a warm rosy glow. We slowed down to fishing speed and hooked a couple of mackerel and enjoyed the aroma of freshly cut grass wafting out from the land. At 0730 we anchored in Porth Dinllaen to get cleaned up, and have a lunch time pint and pie in the Ty Coch – after a traditional ‘anchor drop’ or two of course. We have been asked for  interviewed live on Radio Wales at 0815 tomorrow morning – phone signal permitting and we’re all looking forward to crossing the Royal Welsh YC line tomorrow at 1100 followed by a party with family and friends.
