Another glorious day but with very light wind. Last night we motored until 0200 when I couldn’t stand it any longer and poled out the headsail. We made 4 knots instead of 5.5 but the peace and quiet made it worth it. With a flat sea and very little convective cloud about we put up the cruising chute at breakfast time and have been running with it ever since making between  4.5 and 7 knots depending on whether a cloud passes over or not and all on course – so 1287nm to go. This lunch time we put the clocks forward an hour to GMT +3 so that the daylight hours are a bit more balanced – this morning it was light at 0400 instead of 0500 as it should be and it means we’ll  have our evening meal in daylight this evening. Apart from that, we saw a small funnel cloud growing beneath a developing cumulus cloud to the south but it didn’t touch down and become a waterspout. No fishing today, but yesterday’s was delicious, more tomorrow perhaps. Sadly, no whales or dolphins or indeed many birds yet – seems like the ocean is increasing devoid of life. I wonder why. Fi made bread and flapjack this morning and my daily sun sights are proving very satisfying. All well on board.
