Another nice day. Yesterday was our wedding anniversary and the crew kindly gave us a card and Maria and Tim sang us a song written specially for the occasion by Maria. Tim should not risk a career change. Last night we had light following winds but by hand steering we were able to maintain 5+knots in the 8 knots of apparent wind. Just after dawn we launched the cruising chute and the speed increased to 6kts in the slight sea. As the morning wore on clouds built and we had occasional rain and more gusty winds which caused some steering issues among the crew. So we dropped the chute and went back to 4.5 knots and a poled out headsail. Then we hooked two dorado – we had two lines out – the first was small so we put her back but the second fought like a demon and still only turned out to weigh about 9Ibs. What happened to all those cockpit sized fish we used to catch. Anyway its fish and chips for diner tonight and Fi’s cristaphine and apricot chutney went down very well with lunch. Clouds seem to have dissipated so its time to challenge the crew again and put the chute back up. 1405 nm to go and were sailing on track 60T. All well on board
