David spent the morning cleaning, oiling and taping all the wire rigging onboard. He also checked all the split pins, tightened all deck shackles and then moused them to prevent them coming undone during the voyage. After stand easy coffee break he started service work to the boats six winches. This entailed dismantling them then cleaning them followed by greasing and a light oiling before putting them back together. By lunchtime he had completed half of the winches so he should finish the job by secure tonight. The photos show one of the main winches on the boat used for hauling in the Genoa. It is a Lewmar 43 Two Speed non tailing winch which was made in 1978 and is still going strong.
