Rain stops play!

> Another night and day of heavy rains but little or no winds. Obviously the exact conditions enjoyed by flies because the boat is swarming with them! My other regular visitor is the Cuban Tree Frog of which I've had seven on board over the last three weeks! Today I had small sparrow like birds come into the main cabin looking for a meal and often I have a couple of doves in the cockpit coving to each other. I also thought that I heard ducks late at night but only recently realised that these were the Cubans calling to their mates!
> Before the rain started I was able to resecure the stainless steel boarding ladder on the port quarter then fit the canvas Dodgers which will protect Eddy and I from the worst of the wAves trying to enter the cockpit. When or if the rain stops I'll do the other side. Whilst raining I worked below cleaning the boat and restoring all the inessential gear to the lower bunk lockers. I'm busy drawing up contents lists of all the gear onboard just in case something goes wrong I'll then know what I've got to fix it with. I'll also make up teds storage boxes for the two vast cockpit lockers. One box will contain engine tools and spares, another a Bosuns bag of goodies for sailing and seamanship, another will have damage control items, and yet another will contain routine cleaning and maintenance gear. So even in the rains there is always some work that can be done - the bonus of the wet weather is at least the temperature is a few degrees cooler!
