The books say that it was captain Cook who named this bay. He was on his ship, we are in a B&B lodge. With a heater. After some days in the boat with a nonfunctioning heater, the lodge life is a blessing.
We practiced driving on the left side of the road on Niue, and now I feel like I have never done anything else (!) Yesterday we were in the fishing village Mangonui and had a lovely meal at what is supposed (by some authors) to be one of the best Thai restaurants inn New Zealand. And that may well be. We also stopped in Opua, where we met Anette from Nala Danica. They are in the biggest marina we have ever seen, I think. In Paihia, also in the Bay of Islands, we stopped for lunch and took a small ferry over to Russel. Russel is what our former crew, Mia, called «mysigt» in Swedish. That means something that perhaps translates to «small, cosy and nice».
Today we shall drive all the way up to the northernmost point of NZ and back to Bay of islands.
